Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge, Lloyd Harbor

Red Throated Loon

Took a chance looking for waterfowl by Target Rock - in the past, I almost always find Red Breasted Merganser there.  I found Common and Red Throated Loon, as well as four seals resting on the rocks.

Found a few Long Tailed Ducks by the mouth of the harbor.

Walked along Mill Pond from Route 25A to Mill Dam Pond Road - water was unusually calm so was easy to spot the waterfowl.

I always find Canvasbacks at "Centerport Pond" - next time I'll try looking for them at Mill Pond - for various reasons, it should be easier to search for them at Mill Pond.

Uplands Farm Sanctuary, Cold Spring Harbor

Downy Woodpecker

Stopped by for a few minutes hoping to find some raptors - didn't see any but found starlings and mourning doves as well as this downy woodpecker.
