I took a quick drive through Jones Beach West End and stopped at the Coast Guard Station - only saw a few sparrows (Song) and Yellow Rumped Warblers. The Coast Guard sandbar was covered with shorebirds and waterfowl- Oystercatchers, Comorants, Gulls, Dunlin, Sanderlings, Black Bellied Plovers (lots), Brant, and a few Forster's Terns. There were also some Forster's Terns feeding in the bay as well as some scoters - I was able to ID a Black Scoter at least.
At Smith Point State Park, the lot hosted some gulls and around 10 Black Bellied Plovers. I was surprised to also find 3 Semi-Palmated Plovers still around.
